Standards of Medical Care 2022
Standards of Medical Care on Diabetes Technology 2022
The American Association of Diabetes (ADA) Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes includes the current clinical practice recommendations and is intended to provide the components of diabetes care, general treatment goals and guidelines, and tools to evaluate quality of care. The Standards are updated at least once a year – sometimes more frequently.
In 2022 the ADA acknowledged the growing demand for online programs that offer lifestyle counseling, on-demand health coaches, and message reminders & approaches to improve health behaviors.
The ADA formally recommends: “Systems that combine technology and online coaching can be beneficial in treating prediabetes and diabetes for some individuals.” with a Grade B Evidence Level. Grade B means that there is supportive evidence from well-conducted cohort studies and supportive evidence from a well-conducted case-control study.
